Properly understood, the idea of ideology offers a nuanced and illuminating approach to legality that provides a precise rendering of the relation between law and politics that need not be nihilist or reductionist. After all, a correct understanding of the ideological role of legislation is suitable with other conceptions of how legislation is to be outlined or understood.
